From September 26 to 28, 2024, the first edition of the School on Nuclear Regulation was held in Borovets, organized by the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (BNRA) in partnership with the Center of Nuclear Competencies Kozloduy. The purpose of the school is to provide opportunity for students to learn about regulatory aspects at national and international level, as well as the activities and responsibilities of the Bulgarian nuclear regulator. The school was conducted in an interactive format, allowing students to actively ask questions and practice their newly gained knowledge in solving the case studies assigned during the training session. This format gives students the opportunity to acquire not only theoretical, but also practical knowledge.
Eighteen students from Bulgarian universities and experts from nuclear sector took part in the first edition of the school. The lecturers were specialists from the BNRA, representatives from the Kozloduy NPP Plc, the Kozloduy NPP – New Builds Plc, the State Enterprise Radioactive Waste, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, the European Commission, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Greek regulatory body.
